Canadian violinist Simon Riverin began his musical journey in Saguenay Lac Saint-Jean, starting violin at the age of five. He continued his studies at the Conservatoire de musique de Saguenay under Andrée Azar, before earning a Bachelor’s degree and an Artist Diploma from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, studying with Johanne Arel. Simon later completed his Master of Music at the Haute École de musique de Genève, where he studied with Mihaela Martin and Gábor Takács-Nagy.
Simon has won numerous prizes in national competitions in Canada, including first prize at the Canadian Music Competition (CMC) and the John Newmark Prize at the 2013 Prix d’Europe in Montréal. He has been part of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Academy and the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. He is currently a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and regularly performs at chamber music festivals across Europe and North America.
Since 2021, Simon has been a member of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig. He performs on a violin from Niccolo Gagliano, generously loaned by Canimex. INC.
