Accessibility
The Gewandhausorchester would also like to make a visit to the concert an experience for people with a disability. Our service staff will help you with your visit to the Gewandhaus. Special information on suitable seats is available when purchasing tickets at the Gewandhaus box office and the website is also largely set up for people with visual or motor impairments.
In the Gewandhaus, the visitor service staff will be happy to help you reach your seats easily and safely.
Wheelchair users can take advantage of particularly suitable seats that are accessible by elevators.
Wheelchair spaces are available in the hall aisles to the left and right of doors M/L and E/F, next to which there is a companion seat.
Please note that in the wheelchair spaces in the area of doors I and C, the spaces for accompanying persons are not located directly next to the wheelchair space, but in the immediate vicinity.
The number of wheelchair spaces available may vary depending on the event.
Wheelchair users receive a free companion seat for all Gewandhaus events. Please show your disabled pass with the “B” mark at the entrance.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets in various designs with a Euro lock system are available in the main foyer at the transition to the Mendelssohn Foyer (first floor) and in the Mendelssohn Hall in the Leo Schwarz Foyer on the left.
The Großer Saal and the Mendelssohn-Saal are equipped with an inductive hearing system. The induction loop enables you to receive acoustic signals without interference with a suitable hearing aid. For this, it is necessary that your hearing aid has a so-called telecoil (“T-coil”). To avoid disturbing other concert-goers, we urge you to set your hearing aid for inductive hearing when attending the concert.
You can view the signal strength here:
Of course, the staff of the Visitor Service will help you find your way around the Gewandhaus at any time. Guests who wish to attend a concert alone and require the assistance of a guide dog should simply indicate this when purchasing tickets. We will be happy to inform you about suitable seats.
Our website is largely barrier-free, so that people with visual or motor impairments can also use all the information. You can change the contrast of the page in the top right-hand corner of the website.
With the key combination [SHIFT], [+] or [SHIFT] [-] the view of the page and thus the font size can be enlarged or reduced.
